A-4 Skyhawks over the carrier USS Enterprise (CV-65) are gathering overhead prior to launch of an "Alpha Strike". The two nuclear powered excort ships in the painting are USS Bainbridge, Guided-Missile Frigate and USS Long Beach, Heavy Guided-Missile Cruiser.  These ships made up the only all-nuclear surface vessel Task Group and the first to engage the enemy in history.
