About the Painting TA-4Js over carrier USS Lexington (CV-16). The TA-4J was the aircraft used in the advanced training command for the US Navy for over 30 years. It was first introduced in 1970 to the advanced training squadrons based in Beeville and Kingsville, Texas. The painting depects a section of TA-4s over the USS Lexington. The "Lex" was the designated training command carrier as was used solely to train fledging aviators. It was the "Lex" that Naval Aviatiors had their first cat shot and trap. Now retired, The Lady Lex is a floating museum located in Corpus Christi, Texas. |
