"Operation Deep Freeze" was a campaign to land the first aircraft at the South Pole.  This painting depicts the Douglas-Navy R4D Skytrain "Que Sera Sera" landing on polar ice in minus 58 degree F temperature while the C-124 Globemaster circles above.
